It is with a heavy heart that I
announce that Knit Happy will be closing its doors on March
24, 2012.
During these past four years, I have been enriched, inspired,
encouraged and deeply blessed by all of you who have shared your time
and talents with me. It's amazing how the simple act of winding
yarn around a needle can spark so much: Sharing & support,
laughter & tears, learning & teaching, friendship &
love. Your support and friendship has been a great gift and I
will always treasure it.
Starting tomorrow, February 4th, everything in the shop will be on sale
starting at 15% off - with additional discounts up to 50% off on some
items. All single patterns and pattern booklets, as well as all
Denise needle kit accessories will be
"buy one, get one free." Obviously, inventory is
limited to stock on hand, and all sales will be final. If you
have a gift certificate outstanding, I would ask that you redeem it as
soon as possible in order to get the best selection. No further
gift certificates will be issued.
About classes: If you have signed up and paid for a upcoming
class, they will be honored. However, other classes on the
schedule are subject to cancellation depending on availability of
materials required. I have added one final Beginning Crochet class
to the schedule for Thursday, February 23rd, at 10:00 am. Space
will be limited, so if you are interested in this class, please contact
me as soon as possible.

Spring has definitely
sprung - in a very theatrical way!! We've had some wicked
weather across the south and I hope you and your loved ones are safe
and well.

Saturday) for a mini-vacation. I hope everyone has a wonderful
Memorial Day weekend.
Wall of Pima
I have a lovely wall of Cascade Ultra Pima that looks like a flower
garden. This DK weight, 100% pima cotton yarn, has a beautiful
sheen and drape - perfect for summer tees and cardigans, scarves or
shawls. After much debating on whether to knit a sweater or a
shawl, I simply couldn't decide between the two - so I'm going to do
both. I have several really cute summer sweater patterns to
choose from and have narrowed my choice down to the "Zoe Tee"
from C2Knits. It's top-down, in-the-round -- so no seaming
required!!! I've also been drooling over the "Summit"
Shawl on knitty.com I can't wait to get
started. What about you? What are you daydreaming about
making next while working on your current project? (Or am I the
only one who does that?)

Happy April!!!
(I don't think March went out like a lamb this year...)
Update on "Yarn Tease"
 
I know I teased you all last month about this great new yarn that was on
the way. Well, it came....and went.....and came back....and went
again. Now it's back in the shop. "Marina" yarn
from Universal/Rozetti has been HOT, HOT, HOT as many of you already
know. One ball of this wide, woven, "fishing net" yarn
will make the cutest spring scarf ever -- and you can make it in
just a few hours! Come in and see it for yourself. Get a
quick lesson on how to knit it - and whip up your own conversation
piece! They're like potato chips - you can't knit just one.
Two New Classes! No Foolin'!!!
Knitting Next
Steps - Can you knit and purl, but are longing to
expand your "bag of tricks"? Then, this is the class for
you. Learn increasing, decreasing, a simple cable, a simple lace
pattern, how to read a pattern, and simple seaming techniques as we knit
a cute "coffee cozy." This class will triple your skill
set and you'll be ready for anything!!!
Class Fee: $25.00 (one session)
Skills required: knit & purl
Materials: Approximately 50 yards worsted weight yarn, size 7 needle,
cable needle.
Dates offered: April 7th or 21st; May 12th or 14th, June 16th or 18th.
 Mad for Plaid!!
Choose either the hat or fingerless gloves (both included in pattern) and
learn how to add plaid to your knitting!! Both hat and gloves are
knitted in stripes and plaid is added at the end. (This is not a fair
isle project.)
Class Fee: $35.00 (two sessions)
Skills required - knit & purl (experience with DPNs a plus)
Materials: Plymouth Coffee Beenz yarn in 3 colors, pattern, size 6
and 8 circular/DPNs

Knit Happy is blue
Did you notice our lovely blue color
palette this month? Well, there's a reason why. March is
National Colo-Rectal Cancer Awareness Month (and the color is blue). As
many of you know, last year I was diagnosed with colon cancer and
spent much of the year in treatment. I am now, thankfully,
cancer-free and well on my way back to my feisty self.
So, why bring this up? So I can pass on to you a very important
message - Get screened. It's as simple as that. If you
are 50 and fabulous, then make sure you stay that way. Look,
everybody knows that getting a colonoscopy may not be the most fun
way to spend a day, but it's worth it. The test is completely
pain-free and short. Take one day of your life to save your
life - it saved mine. (getting off my soapbox now)

A New Yarn
"Teaser"
There's a new spring yarn on the way
that I am SO excited about. I can't tell you about it just yet,
so consider yourself "teased." It should be here later
this week. It is unlike anything I've seen before and I think
it's going to be simply smashing!

Happy February to you all!
New Plymouth Yarns
We've just brought
in Plymouth Mushishi. If you haven't seen this luscious wool &
silk yarn, you're in for a treat. With an amazing 491 yards, one
skein is enough for a hat and
scarf! And the yarn includes hat & scarf patterns for both knit
and crochet.
Also, new is Plymouth Coffee Beenz. If you are familiar with
Plymouth's "Jelli Beenz" yarn, this new yarn is similar, but in
"grown up" colors. Beautiful warm colors marled with soft
tan, gray & black. I am currently working on a hat and pair
of fingerless gloves in this yarn in a plaid pattern - that's right
plaid! As soon as I get them finished, I will be offering a class
to make them.
We also have new colors in Mulberry Merino, Plymouth's unbelievable blend
of merino and mulberry silk. You won't believe how soft this yarn
is to your skin.

I'm delighted to
add "Hiya Hiya" circular needles to my shop. With
lightweight, quiet, stainless steel tips and thin, super-flexible cords,
they are perfect for nearly every project. I am currently carrying
16" and 24" circulars and will be adding additional Hiya Hiya
products later. So.......
