Knitting Next Steps

Are you longing to move beyond knit and purl and expand your knitting "bag of tricks?"  Well this class is for you!  Learn increasing, decreasing, a simple cable, a simple lace pattern, how to read a pattern, and simple seaming techniques as we knit a cute "coffee cozy."  After this class, you'll be ready for anything!  Materials needed:  Approx. 50 yards worsted weight yarn, size 7 needles, cable needle, darning needle.

Entrelac Scarf

Entrelac knitting is a method of multi-directional knitting where you create a series of triangles and squares which resemble a woven fabric when complete. I like to call it one of the great "secrets of knitting."  It looks complicated and difficult, but it's really not.  If you can knit and purl and turn your work back and forth, you can knit entrelac!
This is a 3-hour, single session class.

I Wanna Knit!! (aka Beginning Knitting)

A single-session class to introduce the language and basics of knitting.  You will learn how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off.

 

Dates: Jan. 24th, Feb. 7th or 21st, Mar. 6th.  5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

          or Saturday, Jan. 28th. 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Hat Trick

Choose from three hat patterns in your choice of worsted or bulky weight yarn* and learn to knit in the round as you make your first hat.  This is a two-session class with sessions scheduled one week apart.  Skills required:  Knit & purl.  Materials required:  yarn (quantity varies), 16" circular needle, set of dpns, stitch marker.

Dates:  Jan. 20th & 27th; Feb. 8th & 15th, Mar. 8th & 15th.  10:00 am - 12:00 noon

Fee:  $35.00 (pattern included)   Two-session class.

Cabled Fingerless Gloves

Knit these must-have accessories from the pattern from "carissaknits".  A great first cable project!  This is a two-session class with sessions scheduled one week apart.  Skills required:  Knit & purl.  Experience with dpns a plus, but not required.  Materials required:  approximately 150 yds worsted weight yarn, size 6 dpns, stitch markers, stitch holder or waste yarn.

Dates: Jan. 19th & 26th.  10:00 am - 12:00 noon

Beginning Socks 

 

Learn to knit socks on double pointed needles with worsted weight yarn.  Larger yarn and needles means these socks work up quick!!  Materials required:  220 yds. appropriate yarn, size 5 or 6 dpns, darning needle.

This is a 3-session class, with sessions scheduled one week apart.

A single-session class to introduce the basics of crochet.

Mad for Plaid!!

Choose between a hat or fingerless gloves (pattern includes instructions for both) and learn to add "plaid" to your knitting.  Both hat and gloves are knit in stripes and plaid detailing is added later.  (This is not a fair isle class.)  Skills required: knit & purl, experience with DPNs a plus.
